Interpreting
We are the only company in Europe with a team of our own Chinese interpreters. They are full-time staff, not freelancers brought together on an ad hoc basis. All our interpreters wear our logo lapel pin. It is a guarantee to our clients that the person wearing it -
- has qualified to at least MA level and received advanced level training
- possesses expertise only highly experienced interpreters have
- needs to pass a performance review every six months
We can undertake large events where several interpreters are required concurrently. Our assignments range from events between governments and negotiations between companies to technical training workshops and site visits (pull down Case Studies to see our recent assignments). You the client only need to make one contact.
We are particularly strong in interpreting at high profile, high impact and high sensitivity events. Our Managing Director, Dr Kevin Lin has been the Lead Interpreter of the British Government since the mid 90s. In that capacity, he interprets for the Queen, the Prime Minister and leading politicians. He also interprets at the highest level of multi-national companies. His textbook on interpreting is a must read in China. His expertise in interpreting at events of national and international significance has become a core competency of our company. No other service suppliers can make the same claim.
The Interpreter Professional Cycle is a bench-mark-setting process developed by Dr Kevin Lin and strictly followed by all our interpreters.
It requires an interpreter -
- to study instructions from the client to understand the programme of the event, its objective, participants, timing, venue, everything
- to research the subject matter, build a glossary, reduce the unknown in both subject knowledge and vocabulary
- to perform to the level our clients have come to expect from us
- to analyse own performance at Post-job Learning sessions held regularly
The Cycle ensures that our interpreters treat every job as the first ever. It builds in continuous learning. It drives excellence throughout the team. It ends at the next instruction when the cycle starts again.
