Branding

Branding in Chinese is much more than having your name translated. Most corporate/brand names are simply not translatable into Chinese. They need to be re-created.

Lack of awareness of the complexity involved has resulted in many Western brand names in Chinese falling far short of the objective of their owners.

We offer two levels of service in name re-creation in Chinese – Entry and Professional. The following is a summary list of the services contained in a typical project at the Professional Level. We would be pleased to discuss your specific requirements and propose a project to meet them.

1 Fact-find   We need to fully understand your brand strategy for China. That’ll form the basis of our creative work.

2 Research   We’ll research your market in China to bench-mark our work against your competitors.

3 Short-listing   Our work will be as exhaustive as it can be. A report will be submitted explaining the options. It will enable non-Chinese speakers to make an informed choice.

4 Testing   We’ll test the short-list on focus groups or via an on-line survey.

5 Screening   We’ll screen the short-list for potential negatives and check against existing trademark registrations in China.

6 Final decision   We’ll submit a further report to help you make a final decision.

7 Logo   We'll submit 2-3 graphic concepts of your Chinese name. We’ll then refine the chosen one to ensure that it will work equally well as a stand-alone or part of a bi-lingual logo.

8 Stationery   Once your Chinese logo is approved, we'll produce your business stationery - business cards, letterheads and complimentary slips.

You're now ready to brand your communication or activities in Chinese.
